Good to know

What does Privacy Scanner check for?

It looks for patterns matching credit card numbers (validated with the Luhn algorithm to reduce false positives), email addresses, US Social Security Numbers, phone numbers, and IBANs (international bank account numbers).

Does this catch everything sensitive in my document?

No tool can guarantee that. Privacy Scanner catches common structured patterns, but it can't detect sensitive information that doesn't follow a recognizable format (like a name, an address, or a confidential business detail). Use it as a helpful first pass, not a final compliance check.

Is my document or the scan results sent anywhere?

No. The PDF is read and scanned entirely in your browser's memory. Nothing is uploaded, and the results disappear the moment you close or refresh the page.

Can it remove or redact the sensitive data it finds?

Not yet — Privacy Scanner currently only detects and reports. Redaction is on our roadmap as a future tool.
